Oh yeah. Flew over there last year and we were starving after the flight so we went for a kebab and as soon as we got out the car some zombied lad shuffled past who looked like he'd just been glassed.

Yeah was pretty wild. Can’t remember the street name but was fairly central, took a wrong turn one day and all of a sudden was in a very sketchy area with open drug use, prostitution etc.
was a bit shocked as I’d traveled up the west coast and thought this was a fairly exclusive problem in downtown areas of the States.
Went on a boat trip to see killer whales though and happy to report that none of them offered me a toke on their crack pipe.

Many years ago now, but when I was there Davie Street was the place to avoid, for the reasons you identify above.

It now looks like it has been gentrified into the city's gay quarter.

Not a sign of it down by Denman Street, Beach Avenue or Granville Island.

Was a long time ago now. Mate stayed in a hostel on the street and some guy went mental with a machete.

Im English but moved to Toronto in 2019, then to Van in Jan. Better in Vancouver but dont tell anyone I said so. ; )

$50+ better off getting them some Canadian whiskey, some of the best in the world now, especially the rye.

Tbf it's basically impossible to eek out a living in Vancouver with the housing costs these days.

Yeah its crazy expensive. Ive lived all over the world but Id say its more expensive here than London or NY.

Yeah brought the kids here before moving and stayed in an AIrbnb in Gas town and China town, took them out at 7am on a Sat morning and it was like a scene out of night of the living dead. The fentanyl situation is crazy here.
