The rain, it raineth every day

Gist : sends an instant message to the VAR referee who will decide
If offside or not.

Claims to be more accurate than the current system. Will track
29 points on the body and take 0.5 of a second.

Camera and computer technology tracks the movements of
players and the ball, Artificial intelligence measures whether
the player is offside at the instant the ball is kicked.

Can be in place for the Club World Cup in UAE in February. Also
would be available for matches in Serie A for the second half of
the season.

Possible introduction to the Premiere League 2023/24.

The officials are all incompetent. The fewer of them on the pitch, the better.

As long as it shows the result like with the goal-line technology, I'm all for it.

It's better this season than previous but we still have things like waiting 5 mins to check a goal is offside or not(King Watford) so if this technology cuts that out it will be much better for the game.

Me personally still don't like VAR.

No VAR in league Cup till a certain stage is it?
VAR seems to be better this season IMO but still has its problems and is still open to corruption or selectivity.
Still, that game against united in the Cola Cup made me think we are better off with it than without.
At least with VAR, refs have no opportunity to just simply pretend they haven't seen something and will have to go on record sticking to an incomprehensible decision even with the benefit of a headset or instant replays. That will bring political pressure in the end I think.

I get the sense it's better this season because they realized themselves they were ruining the game and would have riots on their hands if it carried on!

Still got a way to go though...

On the one hand, Hawk-Eye has rendered tennis umpires are more or less obsolete, and anything to get rid of the current crop of Prem referees.

On the other hand, the cynic in me wonders how long it would take the Prem to start ginning up bogus replays and Hawk-Eye outputs to support the stories they want to tell. The offside rule isn't the problem all that often in any event - it's the inconsistent interpretation of foul calls, which I would argue is a feature rather than a bug. I think that what worked originally was the controversy, and therefore the discussion that followed. Today, it's about the money, and we see year after year that big fish get better refereeing outcomes on average than small fish receive.

The biggest issue I have is that we do not hear the conversation between VAR official and on field.

Yesterday, as soon as I heard the name Jon Moss, you knew what was going to happen. What was the conversation, the cynic in me says that Moss basically told the on field ref to overturn it but you have to run over and look like you are deliberating over it.

Good point.
In rugby TV, when video is called in the conversation between field referee and video judge are on air for all to hear.
Should be same with footie.
