"View from your seat"

I learnt this when I sat at the back of lower gwladys. Shocking tickets. Added atmosphere did not make up for it one bit!
I got obstructed view seats in the lower Gwladys a couple of boxing days ago and there was a wall in front of me that obscured 3/4 of the pitch. Absolute disgrace that they sell those seats. Thankfully, some of the lads with season tickets had a couple of spare seats for me and my brother so we could actually see us get beat 1-0 by Stoke :( in all of it's horrible glory. Wish I'd taken a picture of the view, it was awful.

It's crazy. Are people actually buying these seats during these "sell-out" games?!

That wasonly two years ago, so I imagine that they are still being sold. I had no idea how awful they would be as I've had restricted view seats a few times and they've been a bit annoying but basically fine.

Got it for you
Looking at buying an obstructed view ticket in TB2 (top balcony).

Website says there's a 'view from your seat' option. However, I can't find this anywhere. Any help on that?

Should I be concerned about the obstruction...or should I just go for it?

Even if it was built 1000 years ago...How was the stand ever designed so badly? Who looked at that view and said "yep, that'll do"

I do wonder this. I suppose if everyone remained seated for the entire game then there wouldn't be any problem with the sight lines, but these stands were built in the days when everyone was standing!!! The only time I was ever in the back row of the Lower Gwladys I had taken my 5'2" girlfriend of the time, and even she had to crouch down a little bit to fully see the action down the other end....

Hi looking for some help, I've been travelling from Ireland to goodison for over 20 years and this year I invested in a season ticket in the lower bullens for my son and I. We've travelled over to 6 of the home this season so far and I hope to get to 6/7 more before end of season.
My question is this what is the best seat in the LB stand and is it possible to get ones without a pillar in the way. I like the LB stand as my young son is close to the field yet well covered from the rain due to the travelling I don't want us getting wet and being in wet clothes all day. In LB5 at moment but was hoping to renew and see could I transfer to better seat, any ideas????

Key is with the lower Bullen's is to get a seat as close to the pitch as possible. As mentioned by others...the real problem is not the pillars, but the stand above you blocking the view of anything a few metres above the pitch. It's far worse than having pillars in the way!

What row are you looking at?

This is view from the Top Balcony. First time I met be been up there.

Best tickets I've ever had in terms of the view.
Thanks for getting back to me, I'm looking at possible row A,B or C in LB5 or LB4 I'm back in row G at the moment and get badly caught with a pillar for the goal at the park end. Is it easy enough to swap/transfer seats or am I better off trying to get a back row seat in the paddock but will I get wet there??

I can't imagine a pillar getting in the way too badly (if at all) if you manage to get so close to the front.

I sometimes sit in front of the paddock in the disabled section...and I haven't gotten wet when in rains yet. Perhaps if the wind was blowing in the wrong direction I'd suffer...but with it being low down in a stadium...wind isn't often a problem.

I remember back in the late 90's when I first got a season ticket in the main stand...my dad and I went to the stadium and a chap from sales took us around all the available seats.

It'd be worth enquiring if they still offer this service.

I sit row G TB1 and the only obstruction is a post that covers the corner of the park end-main stand side so it's a decent view, depends how far back you are if that helps

In the end my seat had a pillar blocking part of gwladys street goal. Wasn't an issue though. I was pretty close to the centre of the pitch and a tilt of my head to the right of left gave me full visability of the goal.

Yeah it's probably one of the best views in the ground I reckon, if you can get the right area up there then the posts arnt a problem at all

Last time I was in the LB, it was row L about 150-160 ish, pretty well on the half way line and a perfect view of both goals. The ball can go missing when it's kicked very high and you can't see the top balcony, but who cares anyway. Everyone stayed in their seats so everyone got a decent view....hope this helps...

Very near to where i was saturday, there but right in line with the halfway line. Best place i've been to in the stadium as far as the view of the game is concerned, very cramped seating though (doesn't help that i'm not as thin as i used to be)

No.....that is a common misconception.

I sit near the front in the LB.

You go about ten rows back and you lose sight of the ball it it goes fifty feet in the air.

And the further back you go, the worse it gets.

At the very back of the LB I reckon you lose sight of the ball if it goes more than twelve or fifteen feet in the air.

This is because of the overhang from the Upper Bullens coming so far down.

It is horrendous....and it is claustrophobic....and being as the away fans are housed there, it is downright embarrassing that in my matchgoing career I have seen Goodison Park go from the most modern stadium in England to what must be the most user unfriendly of all the major stadiums.

(not that I am worried about the away fans as such, but they discuss their experience on other boards I frequent and I hate not being able to refute their words )

I do believe an "obstructed view" warning comes with all those tickets :(

If anyone harbours lingering sentimentality toward the Old Lady, I suggest they try viewing a match from the high letter rows in the Lower Bullens :)

Then you will know why ol' Khal says Bramley Dock or bust :pint2:

Oh.....and before any wise guy asks "well if it is so bad, why do you sit in the back of the LB you daft arl sod", it is because I frequently have friends and relatives over from Ireland or the States and I let them have my seat, which has a clear view, so I sit further back in the same section so we can meet at half time etc. and not feel ashamed of Lower Bullens.

Ya happy with that explanation @chicoazul and @ianefc

I wonder if they lowered the pitch, or moved it slightly towards the corner of the LG/LB if that would help the view at the back?

It's possible that could make it worse in the upper tiers though!
