I don't know if our tactics are stopping him playing attacking, but I've gotta say he's been defending better this year compared to last year.

Im happy the lad will great a break during the world cup, i still suggest hes played an awful lot of football in the calendar year and didn't get his head down in the summer. He had a lot of stress and pressure here last year and also the obvs.
Has played every minute for Ukraine on top of playing for us, so it’s a lot especially when you consider the leap In standard and moving to new country. As you stated what is happening in Ukraine will be having a massive mental impact on him. But he also came back to pre season a week early than he should of on his own accord, he is great character. Myself was only last week saying he needed be dropped for a few games, but he was MOM against Fulham. Maybe Patterson being back we will have a better balance now.

Mykolenko is ok for now. Ideally if we could get Tierney in next summer I'd do that. He's out of favour at Arsenal and we could do with more attacking play down that side.

It's fair to say we we're used to that with Baines then Digne.

I didnt know that mate, thats incredible he came back early. I think its something that doesn't get acknowledged enough with him, it was really important the summer schedule for Ukriane, they were tasked as ambassadors to express their nation hood as a team - it was part of the national effort, but it was a busy programme of games. On top of everything else for the lad, its actually incredible hes performed as he has. Says a lot about him.

I often think personally for him, his move here was a sliding door moment personally, if the move hadnt happened when it did or the invasion earlier, he would have been involved in a war zone, he missed the invasion by a matter of weeks, that must be testing personally, in terms of gratitude but also guilt, not to mention the systemic concern for friends and family which has to be ongoing.

I think hes the type of lad who will grow and grow, he seems to have incredible character and that is a high currency in football.
