Resurrecting this thread I know it's a controversial one and @Ashtonian seems to get a bit of stick about vaping. Well, after 25 years as a smoker (5-15) a day, last week I bit the bullet and got an e-cig kit. Now I have tried many, many times to quit the cigs but always failed, hypnotherapy, patches the lot. This is the first time I have been able to quit for over a week, and despite the derision on here for vaping, I would recommend it to any smoker as an alternative. I already feel repulsed by the smell of cigs, as the flavours available for vaping are so varied and it provides the 'hit' to keep the cravings at bay. Just a message really to anyone out there who smokes and feels as they can't quit, give it a go. Just been to 3 day music festival too where I would prob have easily smoked 20 a day feeling much better and also that I have finally cracked it. Hoping to reduce its use over time but for now its helping me quit smoking, something I never thought I could do.
Well done @big bobs beard. It will be a year off the ciggies for me this weekend, and it wouldn't have been possible without vaping. Depending on how far you go with it, it can become a different sort of addiction though - so many juices, tanks and other equipment to try!

Can get bloody expensive as well unless you get into making your own liquid and building your own coils. Those sub-ohm tanks don't half go through the juice.

Well done lid.

Aye, it is what i found out. Started buying budget liquids so to speak at around 30 odd quid a month and realised they weren't expensive for a reason. Started making my own and found out 30 odd quid can last me months on end now.

I mean i have enough made from the end of may with a little top up to get rid of what i had and i'm still good. So a total of 60 quid has lasted me essentially from end of may until i'd say end of september at this rate. Last time i checked ciggies would buy me a week and a half now.

Over two years for me now, The only time I use the vape is first thing in the morning, last thing at night and when I have a bevvy. Plus now on ultra low, so I reckon another year or two, will have packed in all together.

Feel much much better and saved a fortune.

True, but I'm personally still well up on the deal compared to smoking. I CBA with making my own juice, so I spend about twenty quid a week from an online shop. I've spent a good few quid on tanks, mods and other paraphernalia too, but totalled up, still less than I'd have spent on smoking and way more fun!

Don't know if I want to pack it in myself, I really enjoy it. Like you, I'm financially better off, and I feel so much healthier. I don't feel I 'need' vaping either - when I leave it alone, I don't crave it like I did with ciggies. I just REALLY like the flavours and clouds! Until such time as it's proven to be bad for me, I'm going to carry on - I'm confident I could kick it without too many problems.

The black jack is great, like the black airwaves, what I used to use after a fag to hide smell and get rid of the taste.

Just an update- 3 weeks off the ciggies now. Walked past someone outside the pub and was repulsed by the smell and thought of smoking. Would never have believed that a month ago, a miacle. Keeping up my guard but genuinely think I've quit for good. Made up!
Well in @big bobs beard, the first 28 days are apparently the hardest - get past that milestone, and the stats say you're something like five times more likely to quit for good. I 'celebrated' one year off the ciggies on Saturday, and dug out my 'special occasion' juice (Pink Lemonade by Element). Looks like you're already into the flavours - any other recommendations so far?!
