Walkers flavours

This is completely random, but in my old job I advised a company that makes the chemical flavourings that go into these types of crisps. I think they make the flavourings for Walkers, though I'm not sure. Maybe some other crisp company.

Anyway, I had always assumed that someone at the crisp company wakes up in the morning and thinks "You know what I'd love? Crisps that taste like strawberries and chicken tikka masala, mixed together". And so they ask the chemical company to make such a flavouring, and they sell the crisps.

Weirdly, it turns out that it works the other way around. The mad scientists at the chemical company come up with a new flavouring first, and then sell it to the crisp company. i.e. the crisp company takes what is available, not what they specifically want.

The rest of you probably think that this is dead obvious, but I always found that funny.

do you think i could have their number as i would just love a tub of walkers salt and vinegar flavour, then i could snort it, far less calories. it could be used to treat obesity

Builders Breakfast, using Red Sauce?

I want Walkers closed down, I aint no builder buts its never, EVER, ketchup with breakasts foods.

correctomundo chico.

although i would advocate the use of tabasco on eggs.
in vegas they leave mini tabasco bottles with brekkie, i raided the trolley one morning. by rights i should have MGM everything as the fixtures and fittings are included in the deal aren't they ?

Im going to try that tobasco with eggs thing. Remind me at the Stoke game.

Are you talking about those little minature tobasco bottles? Sound them, I also robbed a truck load of them from my hotel in Florida. Superb idea that.

Devilled eggs isn't it?

I might try that in the morning. But I use the hard stuff.

That Encona stuff in the r*d bottle.

Also good this week; White choc Tracker bars.

isn't that the west indian hot pepper sauce ? lashed the last of ours in a chilli to poke it a bit. got some from home and bargain though encona- chilli barbeque sauce. nando's extra hot peri-peri takes some beating though. on salmon it's magnifique.

Yeah that Encona stuff is available in most supermarkets.

My mate brought me a bottle of this stuff back from St Lucia that was mental. It was so hot it made me hallucinate.

Just a few drops in a cheese toastie (which is where all hot pepper sauce belongs) was enough to make it hotter than the sun.

One of them, fan of spicy foods but the industrial stuff makes no sense to me.

Mildish, whatever that you'd call zinger chicken, that's enough for me :)

How do you all fancy some of this
A NEW chilli sauce goes on sale today that is so hot it could KILL.

Ultra-concentrated “16 Million Reserve” is the hottest science can make.

The sauce is 30 times hotter than the spiciest pepper and 8,000 times more fiery than Tabasco.

Diners must sign a disclaimer recommending “protective gloves and eye wear” ? but even sweating testers in safety gear were blinded by tears for 30 minutes.

Just 999 bottles of it are on sale at £105 each.

Medical experts fear it could kill asthmatics or hospitalise a user who touches a sensitive part of the body afterwards.

It is made of pure capsaicin, the chemical that makes peppers “hot”. It takes tons of peppers to make 1lb of capsaicin.

Creator Blair Lazar, 35, specialises in “extreme food” in New Jersey, US.

After trying it, he said: “It’s like having your tongue hit with a hammer. Man, it hurt.”

The sauce is named after its score on the chilli heat measure, the Scoville Unit.
Reserve scores 16 million units, while a Red Savina, the world’s spiciest pepper, measures just 570,000.
