Protest organised against this tonight by residents apparently.
I'm not keen on building on parks, truth be told, and as an L4 native I'd be sad to lose Walton Park. However Everton need this and we remain in the city AND L4.

Also, many of the protesters are from the Walton Park estate - is it not slightly hypocritical to protest about a staduim to be built on a park when their home was built in the same park, just years earlier?

slightly hypocritical

No. It is very.

Same thing happened to Bristol City. Loads of residents in houses built on the exact same bit of land the club wanted to build on managed to get the remaining bit of a park/wasteland classified as a village green ffs.

Thought it was just me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not crazy about building on parks and I grew up in the Walton/Anfield/Clubmoor area, Cherry Lane to be specific.

But this is beneficial to both club and area.

As a local, you might think that most outsiders/tourists think "Liverpool" and then think "Beatles"

Wrong. Most think "Liverpool", then think "Football".

You see the brown signs on the motorway. "Football stadia"

As a local, and I know you sort of are, I personally think we don't make anywhere near enough of our two football clubs.

The emphasis is completely on the Beatles for tourists (and I'm a keen guitarist) but we need to make more of EFC and LFC.

As a North Liverpool native, I'd love to see some money spent up that direction. I've nothing against any other part of Liverpool being developed obviously, I'm a proud Scouser, but I feel the North has been neglected for a while.

Im from L9 and grew up near Walton Hall Park its a massive park so surely there will still be plenty of space left for taking your dog for a piss and feeding the ducks.

Get it Built
which leads to the obvious....what exactly are we going to build?

Very little mention of the sh1tes managed decline of the surrounding area over the last ten years either. Basically slowly ate away at the local community, house by house, street by street, family by.family, until only bricks and boarded windows remained.

Funny how it's heralded as a master stroke by them to revitalise the area and expand the pit. Nice little garden here, corporate sponsor there.....
