Always liked the idea of a trip to the base camp purely for the views, but absolutely no desire to go any higher.

Well, to be fair, Disney has always tailored the storyline of a fairy tale to what they think the current American audience will accept. Check out the original Pinocchio storyline for example. And Winnie The Pooh, I suppose.

Meh, the adapting of an already fictional story. Not sure it will affect too many lives.
The change actually sounds OK to me. There have been plenty of versions that have differed massively from the original, it is just because the term woke is the new buzz word that people get their underwear in knots over these things.
If the synopsis/trailer of a film/show/book does not grab you then don't watch it and watch something you do want to watch without getting all preachy as to how 'wokeism' is ruining everything.
