What a terrific read. Peter Thiel also funds that quasi-charlatan, self-aggrandizing, usually-wrong Eric Weinstein (brother of Bret).
At my first live event in over a year yesterday. Young Munster v Cork Con, decent size crowd, as a rule supporters stand in the same place, so nice to see familiar faces, I was lucky to be one of the chosen ones last September when admission was restricted to 200 so many of them were meeting up for the first time in 18 months.

This scientist is shaking things up in the academic community in a good way. As a progressive-left-leaning scientist they argue that genetics matter (the traditional liberal position is much more "nature" than "nurture" not vice versa) but rather than saying things like genes are destiny, they study genetic differences to argue that we should adopt more personalized anti-eugenic policies that can account for genetic-based differences. She is often reviled by both left-wing and right-wing groups, so it's clear they are doing something right. I got an advance copy of the book from her, and it is quite excellent.
