As a progressive-left-leaning scientist they argue that genetics matter (the traditional liberal position is much more "nature" than "nurture" not vice versa) but rather than saying things like genes are destiny, they study genetic differences to argue that we should adopt more personalized anti-eugenic policies that can account for genetic-based differences. She is often reviled by both left-wing and right-wing groups, so it's clear they are doing something right. I got an advance copy of the book from her, and it is quite excellent.
