Sorry, what did we challenge for?
The title? Trophies? The fella did a good job, but bottled every opportunity which came his way… FA Cup Final, countless Semi’s, Fiorentina… I could go on.
He’s a good manager but “Is Everton”, come on mate.
Top 4 finish
Cup finals
European football multiple times
Are you wiping from history him having hardly any transfer budget, working under Kenwright and having us battling for top 6 you think thats not worthy of praise
We'd be throwing parties getting a top 6 finish now and we've spent 500m +
He was over achieving thoughStill feel some of our post Moyes malaise was because he ingrained a sense of being second class / underdogs / hard done by battlers throughout every part of the club.
We were already on a downward trajectory when he arrived but 11 years of hearing how we were over achieving etc has imho defo left a mark that’s proven very difficult to get rid off.
Martinez 1st season showed what we could do with some belief, but the abandonment of defending in season 2 took his credibility out of the squad who were all to happy to revert to type.
I’m not sure Moyes would be performing as well here now as he is a doing at WHU.
Never go back.
Cup finals? What were these finals? We made one, and he bottled it.
European football is great, and something I crave. But he’s had the best Everton team in the last 30 years at his disposal (which he gets credit for building) and bottled it, on more than one occasion.
I haven’t eliminated anything. He did an excellent job, but it came to an end, something most things do. We both needed a change.
He also completely disrespected the club, I’m and it’s fans, in the way he conducted himself in the months leading to his United appointment and in the subsequent season.
Don’t let some good memories cloud the facts.
12 years, no trophies, 1 final (by contrast Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth made more finals) and an inferiority complex.
Thanks for giving us life back, but that’s it for me.
No one (aside from you) wanted him instead of Ancelotti.
Ancelotti was always ending in disaster, never wanted to be here and looked for the quickest exit out
Surely several seasons of ‘overachieving’ sets a new baseline though? All those top 7 finishes but what were our results like against Arsenal, Spurs, Them, Utd et al?He was over achieving though
He was working on a shoe string budget and had to sell his best players yet still had us fighting for European places
He still looks more mobile than Rondon.I always hang on his every word myself lol
That is quite sadly actually true lolHe still looks more mobile than Rondon.

Should have be kicking on and winning the odd final or going the extra step in CL or UEFA. But we didn’t because we were lucky to be there, shopping in Lidl, taking knives to gun fights etc, and that attitude seems to still permeate today (not helped by Kenwrong tearfully looking back on that period as something to be proud of - magnificent 7th indeed)
Moyes did a great job for us at the time but ultimately didn’t do well enough to make me think he’d do any better 2nd time around.
How could he ever "kick on" when he had no funds to properly add to the squad
How many times did we break our transfer record with him at the helm? How could he ever "kick on" when he had no funds to properly add to the squad
