"Watch Classic Matches Again"

You could not have in those days for a title clinching game shown such a small clip of highlights than that even in those days - I was at the game - I went to school the next day asking if it was anything on TV about our title win ...
my mate stated a heading clip ran across the BBC1 TV programme with the score after the game and to state we were title winners of the old then division 1 - my how times change Colin Harveys fantastic goal no 2 is not even on that clip, farcical nothing changes......

How does that night compare to the 80s wins?
It looked brilliant.

It was fantastic pay at the gate - you had to get in at least an hour before kick off rumoured people could get locked out - all my blue families were there with friends - I have never experienced 2 & 1\2 hours plus singing, chanting from all parts of the ground even the stands were joining in non stop.....
Different chants from all parts of the ground, when Harvey,s thunderbolt from an amazing dribble and shot from distance went in the roar took the noise levels to a crescendo ,....
Then Champions chanted repeatedly lasted for ages sung by the whole ground......
No lap of honour as the fans invaded the pitch only for WBA keeper Jim Osborne and the woodwork, it could have been six not 2-0.
Most of my family that night have past away, but the memory of not just that season, but three seasons of the holy trinity midfield with Bally as our goal scoring dynamo in midfield, is the best footballing side I have seen played on mud bath pitches .....

Division 1
3 November 1956
West Bromwich Albion 3-0 Everton
BBC, 3 minutes 19 seconds

When men were men. PML at those two tackles on Bingham. Not even a booking, and Bingham just got up and played on. Nowadays either tackle would have been a sending off and Richarlison would have been on the floor for 3 minutes.
Another difference -- Blues fans applauding the oppositions goals.
And look at how tight the Bull;ens Rd was to the touchline. A much bigger gap now.

Look how many Everton fans are at that game, noise is immense!
Interested in the replay result and found this - sounds a little dangerous but a great atmosphere.

24 years ago today. Andrei Kanchelskis scores his first goals for us in a rare win across the park. Always love seeing that steward in the Kop at 0.41 in this video openly celebrating our first goal, blatantly taking the pee out of his employers for the day. Gone down in derby day folklore that man!
