I remember when Nev had to retrieve the ball from the stand behind the goal because there wasn't anyone stood there!
Had that fourth goal - rightly - stood it would've meant that Cottee scored 100 goals for us.

I am sure that after that happened Sam Hammam started patrolling the empty terrace as an auxiliary ball boy.
There was a photo in the papers the next day showing him in the empty terrace watching the match.

Loved this match. Anyone remember Beardsley effort from about 35/40 yards out after Crossley cleared it? Hit it first time, went miles up in thr air and hit the top of the bar. Would have been a boss goal.

Remember that game very well…got soaked on the way down. The feeling on hearing Sports Report in the car saying Spurs had got beat at home against Villa was “we’re gonna win the league”!

Regarding getting soaked at Everton away games then Notts County in the 1984 FA Cup and Portsmouth in circa 2002(Away win with Rooney scoring) take some beating…I’m sure there’s loads I’ve forgotten.
