That tackle in the box (right at the end) resulting in a free kick in the box :)......Didn't look like obstruction to me, looked a cert pen.
Refs were a bit dodgy in Europe at that time.

I remember have a tranny (radio :D) at school for that match. Almost in tears when we lost then the dreaded semi final of the cup against the Dark side where I believe Labone played his last game for us as they crocked him.
Bad memories but still nice to look back. Should have been us v Ajax in the Final

Back then obstruction could be given in the penalty area for blatant obstruction e.g. standing in front of an attacking player to block his run etc that tackle was GBH nailed on pen - the Ref was a well known fixer of games then & in the future - Joe Royle noticed, & later stated the home team officials took him out on the town & to a Casino the night before the game ....

I was there that night November the 4th it persistently rained heavily all night it affected the gate - to see two top teams slug it out 1-1 in the away leg - we scored early on & hammered them at times, but their keeper was in great form - they then pushed us back & scored - making it the first pen shoot out in a European competition which Andy Rankin saved us to win - I will always remember substitute Sandy Browns pen that night -

Pre match build up and full Match of the Day highlights of the 1985 FA Cup semi v Luton. Apologies in advance for the brief segment of Emlyn Hughes talking about the upcoming match! Makes you realise how magical the semi finals were (if we won of course!) when they were played at normal league grounds rather than at Wembley.

Great find. So that's why they bought Nev a new red shirt for the CWC final. (Well, also the fact that Rapid played in green).
