Back then obstruction could be given in the penalty area for blatant obstruction e.g. standing in front of an attacking player to block his run etc that tackle was GBH nailed on pen - the Ref was a well known fixer of games then & in the future - Joe Royle noticed, & later stated the home team officials took him out on the town & to a Casino the night before the game ....That tackle in the box (right at the end) resulting in a free kick in the box

Our first league win at Elland road in a league game since Dave Hickson scored in the 1950s...... & leeds ended up relegated - I went there when we were a top team great games beaten unfairly twice .....

What a pitch!
I was there that night November the 4th it persistently rained heavily all night it affected the gate - to see two top teams slug it out 1-1 in the away leg - we scored early on & hammered them at times, but their keeper was in great form - they then pushed us back & scored - making it the first pen shoot out in a European competition which Andy Rankin saved us to win - I will always remember substitute Sandy Browns pen that night -
