Watches

Can anyone recommend a smart watch, which has a phone function? ☎️

Retiring in December, and my wife want's to keep tabs on me!

The go-to watch for that seems like an Apple watch (if you are a Mac/iPhone user). But I don't know much about smartwatches and don't own one. The names I see pop up on watch forums are usually the Apple watch or the new release by Samsung.

On WatchUSeek, they have a whole subforum devoted to smartwatches. Might be some good threads in there about where to begin.

In case you are unaware, things like the Apple Watch have cellular and non cellular versions, both of which ‘appear’ to have a phone function, ie you can dial and accept calls from them, but the non cellular ones rely on being in close proximity to a mobile phone. The cellular one works independently of any phone handset and require their own SIM (or eSIM)
So depending on what you actually intend to use it for, be careful which you get.
Should also add I have a cellular Apple Watch and have never yet used the phone function on its own as I’ve always got my mobile on me. On the odd occasion I’ve left phone on my desk etc and I’ve accepted a call on my watch, it’s invariably to just say give me 2 mins so I can call you back. Talking to a watch makes me feel like a 1st rate belter! (You can of course connect a set of headphones if you purely want a smart watch as your only mobile communications device though)

I'm an oldie who just loves watches, but never owned a smart watch.

Mobiles are a complete mystery to me, and I struggle with my work phone currently.

It will be odd speaking into a watch, but it seems the best option for me going forward.

I want to be there the first time you take a call...could be amusing.

"Can you hear me? Hello? AHH, bollocks to this!"

*gets run over by cyclist cause not paying attention*

Looks very nice to me too.. just don’t know if I fit the personality .. does competitive minecrafting count?

For days on the run. Bike to work, skate to drinks, run to shape: enjoy the dynamic side of things. Keep young by keeping in shape: go for the brushed finishing and the bold dial/bezel printed unicolor statement. A Big Classic is there to stay, a loyal companion from the uncomplicated choices of early hours to the fun times of later ones. It says who you are: a person on the go!

Just thought it had a clean look, considering it's a Swatch (I remember when they blew up on the scene due to the clear cases, it was the thing to have in grade school in the early 80's. That and the original Casio calculator watch, so you could cheat on your maths tests). I just expect everything from them to have an outrageous color scheme, so was pleasantly surprised by that one.

They're not very good for listening to unless it's really quiet. And most of them need to piggy back off the signal of a mobile phone anyway. I've a Samsung Galaxy and it's superb.

Love this!! Never owned a turtle case but I like the look. The bracelet looks nice as well. I've been recently looking at the SARY 139, which is the silvered granular dial Presage. Not gonna pull the trigger, but it's mighty tempting.

Since you're obviously looking at more of a dress style and you're not averse to Citizen...I think this is a nice piece of kit. Just don't know what kind of budget you've got in mind, if any (price is far from horrible, though).

That's quite nice, though I wish there were fewer complications on the dial as it's too busy and clutters-up the nice dial texture. (also, I'm not really looking to buy another watch, but I also am, but I also am not...but I also am...also not...God I hate this hobby)

I prefer less busy faces myself but primarily for every day watches...don't mind so much on something dressy, hence why I went forward with that Black Cat Martini recently. Everyon's got their preferences though...the dial on that Citizen looks class. And we're ALWAYS looking to get a new piece, either the financial timing isn't right or we haven't found "the one". You just hope both circumstances coincide... ;)
