Sorry Elton.......

Away to Watford on Grand National day. Let's hope Everton can start well and reach the finishing post with all 3 points. Joe Royle's birthday today, and at the moment it seems that even at 67, he'd be the second best striker at the club if he were on the playing staff.

The clash of the teams that run out to Z Cars, which we had first, we see the return of Gareth Barry, who we certainly play better with. There's talk of protest at this game, but once that's out of the way I hope everyone can see that for 90 minutes it'll be best to support the 11 lads in blue.

Happy memories of '84, and with another FA Cup date at Wembley looming, is this an omen, or are we getting a bit ahead of ourselves?

If anyone can find a picture of the "SORRY ELTON I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL US THE BLUES" banner from 1984 then please post it.

@chicoazul if you have prepared a preview we can merge or something. In the meantime, let's see you're best football related horse racing puns. And they're off......

Everton 3-1
Thanks for the preview mate but we play on the Sunday mate.

Going to be an interesting match. Watford are a decent side in a poor run of form (Cup aside), so should be there for the taking. Then again, so are we. They have the attacking options to cause our defence a lot of problems.

The pre match hype is undoubtedly going to focus on the pressure on Martinez's job. Poor results, poor performances and the whole Baines-gate escapade will feature heavily in both pre match and post match punditry. If we put in another dismal performance and don't get a good result, I think it will be the first time the criticisms of Martinez will take centre stage in the media.

A good performance and subsequent good result will probably ease some of the mainstream media pressure on Martinez, but won't calm the fans. The ones that want him gone won't be convinced otherwise, and the ones that aren't there yet are slowly getting there.

I think the inclusion of Barry in midfield will rectify some of the problems we faced against Arsenal and Man U, but that wasn't the only problem.
I think the fans will analysing the game, looking for any signs that indicate dressing room issues. Cleverley will retain his somewhat confusing role on the left, demoting either Lennon or Deulofeu to the bench.

Hoping Rom realises he's still at Everton and has a job to do this week too.
