Wayne Rooney: 5 years on

Oh snap just saw a live post for the first time.

Sorry...

Er, no I don't think he's become what I thought he would be, when he was being inspirational and, most importantly, spontaneous when he played for us. He did what a kid playing in the park would do, try what came into his head. Standing on the ball, trying to take every defender on. He's too reserved now, and it's limited him. The United crowd don't take notice when he picks up the ball like we did every time.

Spot on. Hes not that little nancy boy Ronaldo, hes the only player they notice.

Absolutely brilliant player and the fact that he's such a team player makes him even better.

He's a ******* knobhead and no ones made me as furious as he has.

Not denying that Rooney is a very good player, but he hasn't become the player I thought he was destined to become. Maybe that was because I looked through blue tinted glasses at the time and I somewhat overrated him at the time. Thought he could potentially become the best player in the world. Five years on and I'm convinced now, that he never will be that. As said very good player though, but also someone I dispise.

Most who watched Euro 2004 would have held the same view.

:D :D :D and I thought most of yers had a knowledge of the game, some of you either know f/hall about football or are blind. :D

Who needs the Tommy Coopers when I can come on here for a good laugh. :D:D

I thought he would be more spectacular than he is. See all the footballing attributes that Maradona possessed. Technique, skill, pace, strength, vision, passing ability, imagination, tenacity and an audatious streak. not saying he has them in the same abundance as Maradona but they're all there. Something seems to be cramping his style imo. Maybe Ronaldo, maybe Ferguson, Maybe Colleen. Don't know. Great player though and could still blossom.

I may have posted this already earlier in the thread. I may be losing it

The sad thing is that the way he plays now would, I think, put us over our hump and make us an extremely difficult side to beat...that was NOT the case when he was with us.

Everton Football Club and Wayne Rooney have followed much the same path since he left as it regards progression...one became a team and the other became a team player. It's just a shame it took an acrimonious parting of ways to arrive here.

Sh*t happens...
