We need to ignore PL rules about spending

If you seriously think the PL wouldn’t relish giving us a fine/points deduction just to get rid of us then you’re delusional
Even what we think of them aside the PL would absolutely love to slam us with penalties because we'd be a very easy target, they can't go after the "big 6" because they've already threatened to walk and bring in the most money for the league. Having us be the poster child of what happens if you break the rules is literally in everyone's best interests from the league's point of view. Makes them look strong, warns the "big" clubs but does nothing to actually harm the relationship between them and the league and then as a bonus they'd be doing us over.

They'd love to just throw anything at us, not even being biased or anything like that, we're just the ideal candidate for sanctions.

I think we are at a stage where we need Moshiri to really dig deep in Jan and buy three quality signings and spend over £100m to keep us in this league.

City have shown that these FFP/P&L things cannot be enforced so we need to ignore it and go all out.

At the very least we need to treat this window as a case of better to ask for forgiveness than permission
And if it goes wrong the club goes bankrupt. There's no guarantee signing 3 big names will actually make a difference and stop relegation.

I actually think the opposite to you, they need to be preparing a very clear financial plan to ensure the club continues to exist if we go down, instead of assuming more miracles will happen

In an ideal world I would agree with you but I don’t think there is any plan in the world that will see the club remain viable in the championship sadly.

I have and always been someone who would be cautious and pragmatic but I think the drop is simply too much given the way the club is currently set up.

For instance, I bet a large portion of the squad have no relegation clauses in their contracts whereas clubs around us will have that

The way things are looking we probably need to reset expectations to still having an Everton to watch if we go down.

We're lucky we've survived this year given the Russian connection, and I still don't feel that is all over nor do I think everything has come out about the dodgy way we're funded.

We have proved since Moshiri took over that the more money we spend we get worse. We need to get ready for relegation, I don`t see anyway to get out of the mess we are in with the bunch of clowns we have running the club.

I fear you are right but I am hoping for a Hail Mary style January window otherwise the new stadium may well end up being a burial ground for the club.

Considering I’ve said that “at least Everton can’t ruin my Christmas this year because of the World Cup” I now feel more deflated than ever

City haven’t. They haven’t breached the PL rules so haven’t been punished by the PL. they breached UEFA rules. They don’t matter to us as we aren’t competing in Europe and won’t be for a very long time.

My understanding is that the PL have taken City to court over something financial related and City have an injunction to stop the media reporting the details

There are a few details on the daily mail which I’ve just found now but I saw it on the bbc initially

Good point this, but a few might bail anyway like Pickford, if we go down we're down for the long haul like Wednesday and Sunderland

Completely agree. I can only assume that Pickford will have a clause in his contract given he has just signed it and he probably knows the situation we are in.

It’s the likes of Maupay, Gordon, McNeil, Gray, Onana, Gana and probably DCL I doubt have the clause in there

I imagine onana does. The rest aren’t valued high enough/on big enough wages to need one. Maybe except DCL who I imagine we will try to sell anyway

I agree that we basically need to do a Newcastle and spend our way out of danger. Trouble is, this is Everton, and the. Premier league would LOVE to make an example of us by docking us points or similar to send us down. We operate under different rules than the Citys of this world
