Yea, I never knew it was the Boleyn ground till about 5 years a go. Is Upton Park a local area or just another name for the stadium? Either way, sad to see another old park close. Growing up, all the papers, programs, cefax etc all just said Upton Park

Dunno mate. I have always known it as Upton Park, like for 45 years, then suddenly it isnt, just before they move grounds as well.

The correct name is the Boleyn Ground after Boleyn Castle which stood where the ground is situated. Certainly when it opened in 1904 it was referred to as the Boleyn Ground.

As a child and in my 20's and 30's though just like everyone else I always thought it as Upton Park.

I've just checked the record. Since 1999/2000, there have been 30 league matches, and West Ham have won just 3! And their record isn't much better before that; they only won 3 more in the 1990s.

They were outplayed by Watford last week, and we are equal on points with Watford! They will probably continue with Carrol for Sakho and play Reid for Collins. Goals for/against; West Ham 22/15; Everton 19/15. West Ham at home W2 D1 L2; Everton away W2 D2 L1.

We should get a point tomorrow, and have a reasonable chance of taking all three.
physio room say reid is injured also

Gutted to be missing out tomorrow, couldn't get a ticket. Whilst I didn't go to the game there at the end of last season due to the scandalous £55 that West Ham were charging, before that I hadn't missed a single Everton game there, in all competitions, since 1986/87. That was a Sunday game, same time as year as now, and I spent the game dodging fireworks and all kinds of crap being flung at us by West Ham 'fans'. 5 minutes before kick off we had the terrace section by the corner flag and there was a 20 yd empty segregated terrace between us and the West Ham fans (the Bobby Moore end as it is now) and then the police made the decision to let the home fans overflow into this area, just a fence between us and them. Bravo.

Good stuff Chico, enjoyed that.

Don't mind West Am tbh, enjoy the ground and usually good crack down there, but went to London earlier this year and bumped into one of theirs who was a condescending twa*, kept saying we were a nice little club and reminding himself of the couple of times they beat us in the 80's. Saying how great they are now under fat headed Sam and that was after they had spunked their load whilst in the top 4 but ending as also rans like us, weapon. Same as will be under this gypsy, enjoying his time in the sun before they disappear in premiership obscurity like they do every year.

And what about those owners and that Karen Brady, or Lady Brady as she is now. Come to think of it Fackin hate these cockney muppets.

Come on blues, let's fook these. AK9, he's magic you know and Romelu (he has a good game and he's worth 45million) Lukaku should be all over these like Cliff Richard at a teenagers birthday party in the 80's, allegedly. COYB

that Karren Brady ,

"In September 2014, she ventured further into the world of politics when she was honoured with a seat as a Conservative life peer in the House of Lords and dubbed Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge in the City of Westminster."

Now tell me a better motivation to beat these Hammers ???.

3-0 Blues, another Southampton performance will do nicely

Not enough references to Sharm for my liking. Perhaps you could have shoehorned in a reference to the team looking as secure as that of Sharm airport.

Missed opportunity there.

You can get some insight into this at Wikipedia. It says that the club 'rented a house in Green St in the district of Upton Park from 1912'

It goes on to say that the house was called Boleyn Castle by the locals because it was believed that Anne Boleyn once lived there and that it
was haunted. There's more but that's the basics of it. My take is that the official name of the ground is Upton Park, but that it has often been referred to by the locals as the Boleyn Ground. I've heard it variously referred to by both names for as long as I can remember, but usually
Upton Park.

Er, Everton to win, but I've no idea what the score will be.
