When you buy it in the pot & bag - next year save those items - purchase some Basil seed & sow them in the pot in may with the bag on & surface sow - do not cover - spray daily & grown on fresh Basil is wonderful - do not sow too thickly either - rinse & repat the whole season in a sunny window or a greenhouse .....
Needs tropical heat really .....my mom grows it like it's a feckin boreal forest...smells like a pizza shop in her back yard.
Prefer Holy basil (krapao) of the two Thai basils. Horapha (Thai Basil) is a bit aniseedy.Basil is great but perhaps even more impressive is Thai Basil
