Used to love the Jam, bought Sound Affects saw them on the tour at Deeside but I can't listen to any of it now which is strange, I just find it irritating. Had all Paul Wellers solo stuff up to Illumination, thought that was awful can't bear the solo stuff now. I used to think he was something special but when I listen to the real geniuses I recognise the gulf in class.

The early Jam stuff was and still is brilliant imo.

The lyrics and their social awareness was so far ahead of their actual ages.

Going to see Richard Ashcroft in a few weeks, so thought I’d have a listen to Natural Rebel for the first time. So far, so good.

Yeah mate your right, great songwriter, I think that's why I haven't listened to it in ages, it was so related to the social conditions of the era, Thatcher, high unemployment etc. However since I've been on here and posted the comments I have listened to a couple of tracks and maybe I'll get back into it again. I played Town Called Malice the other night forgotten how good it was especially the live version, its like a motown song but angry at the same time , just a great pop song and social comment at the same time.
