I think this was one of the last songs that Johnny Cash recorded before he died. I'm not 100% sure, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

IMHO Cash nailed it. The original NIN version was good, but Johnny took it to the next level.

Even Trent Reznor admitted it, and I'm para-phrasing, but he said something along the lines of: You have a girl, and you're completely in-love with her, then some dude comes along and steals her from right under your nose, and there's absolutely nothing that you can do about it! lol lol lol

One of the very rare occasions, where the cover is better than the original.

This isn`t just better, it blows the original out of the water.

Exactly. I think the lyrics spoke to Cash on a personal level, and for a man who was in the twilight years of his life, and after a lifetime of being, well, Johnny Cash, he was able to turn it into a deep and meaningful song...

I believe he was quite unwell at the time of recording it, which comes out in the recording and actually adds to it.

Hmm.... on the one hand you probably shouldn't go anywhere near covering the Twins, many have tried and failed abysmally across the board, but these guys...

I'm actually pretty 'kin impressed to be honest. Also proving once again that chicks that play bass are all kinds of hot.

I await your wrath @magicjuan .....

These have done a lot of covers of CTs which ruins any semblance of credibility.
They have a huge array of equipment and musical ability, do more of your own stuff for god's sake.
There, don't cover Cocteau Twins' music. ;)

Been listening to CT a lot recently, t'internet continues to unearth some gems.

Pandora, from 1985.

Then, 10 years later, Live again, a shimmering, lush soundscape. Loving the Budd(esque) piano melody.
