Best gig for me was - A Crystal Day in St Georges Hall 1984 - they did for the Old Grey Whistle Test.

Just magical and still remains my all time favourite gig.

The music scene was the best, the clobber was the best and we were the best team in the world.

I saw them a couple of times back in the day, but the one that completely floored me was when I saw them in Edinburgh - I'd never seen anything like it, and for ages afterwards I bored pretty much everyone I knew by insisting that these were one of the great live bands, and everyone had to see them if they got the chance. While I really liked the records, they gave no real hint of just how powerful these songs would be live; Silver was always my favourite. I asked a mate if he wanted a ticket when I was buying them, but he said he had "too much revising" to do - a pathetic excuse. I even managed to catch Will Sergeant's plectrum when he threw it out at the end lol

I’ve seen them dozens of times and how good the gig is, solely depends on what sort of mood the bellend McCulloch is in.

They used to do a Christmas gig every year in the Academy and I remember one year me and my mates walking out and going back on the ale, as McCulloch was being such an arse.
