What would you call this? Rockabilly with a touch of surf rock?
There were a couple that did this sound well...
‘Tis the case with a lot of bands innit?Yeah, I really like The Cramps, their early/mid 80's stuff was great.
It's really hard to pigeon hole The Fall, they had so many incarnations and changes of personnel and sound.
They were most definitely post-punk, then 'Indie' (whatever that means) in the 1980's and early 90's then after that.....they were just Mark E Smith and whatever he fancied.
They were in their pomp from 1980-94 in my view, then very hit and miss after that.
Indeed so mate. But, to be fair to The Fall they always stayed on small and/or independent labels, they released plenty on Beggar's Banquet and Rough Trade in the 80's 90's and then Fontana and a few other bit part labels.‘Tis the case with a lot of bands innit?
Especially ones that get a little bit of fame and recognition and then sellout to a bigwig commercial label for a huge payday.
