may be one of the lesser known grunge bands but they kick some proverbial

Brilliant album, I remember buying it from Probe Records when it was still on Button Street when it came out. Grey Vinyl copy and played it every day for a fortnight when, like kids of a certain age, we were going to 'put and band together man'.
The playing of the album lasted longer than the band mind.
As I recall, saw Swervedriver at the same time as Mudhoney when this record came out and played all their vinyl's non stop for weeks looking for a 'sound and vibe'.
I think it was the summer of 1991

From the summer that 'punk broke'.....again.
The Summer of 1991 when Grunge properly took off.
Soundgarden, Mudhoney and Nirvana had already done a low key Sub Pop tour a year or so before, but this was the time when the growing your hair and being a subversive/punker/political activist was suddenly a reaction to a decade of Thatcherism and became a thing and the lefties, like me grasped it.

This song has been played to death, then passed off as 'old school' and then 'yeah but its all a bit sceney' and then reduced further by dull college no marks asking the DJ to play it in amongst ABBA songs at weddings and then adopted by meat heads who think its a 'good work out song'....
BUT, this song is one of the most important songs in musical history.
It not only brought together about three genres into one, it was the song that crashed out barriers and resurrected 'youth spirit' and the idea of protest after years of Reagan and Thatcher and terrible mainstream pop music.

Let's not go overboard. Mainstream pop music was largely no better than it was in the 80's after this. In fact, imo, it was worse.

All just my opinion of course, but I'm not alone in thinking that a lot of the stuff in the charts during the 90's was worse than the 80's.

what?
You think this is mainstream pop?
Or do did/do you not understand why I played it and the words I wrote as an introduction to it?
You think Nirvana were mainstream pop and of absolutely no consequence?
You do understand the concept of 'context' and even more importantly 'social and political context' don't you?

Yeah, do you understand what you wrote?
