The same way I say Jane's Addiction when I'm mean to say Alice in Chains, or Alice Cooper when I want to say Iggy Pop?!? FFS!
DAFUQ!? Cooper and IP I can understand as they're both sacks of skin n' bones.

I’ve always found that Pixies music has a subtle beauty sometimes hidden behind the overdrive pedal, the melodies are magnificent. They were proper game changers and a massive influence on an enormous amount of successful bands from the 90s onwards. Love this.
The UK music scene thought the same when they were making music. I like to think of the Pixies as 0.00 - 1.36 of this song by Sonic Youth, the people who could have advanced their career/music and given them more exposure heard them as 1.36 onwards.I only really got to appreciate how good they were as I got older.
A bit like ornaments and knittingI only really got to appreciate how good they were as I got older.
Imagine writing songs like this and not bothering to put them on an album or release them. Different universe.
IMO, the Pixies were one of the last truly great bands (first incarnation '86-'93). Not saying there weren't any good bands after - there have been plenty, but not of the same calibre in a seminal kind of way.I’ve always found that Pixies music has a subtle beauty sometimes hidden behind the overdrive pedal, the melodies are magnificent. They were proper game changers and a massive influence on an enormous amount of successful bands from the 90s onwards. Love this.
Mate, Pixies basically invented modern music. One of the greatest bands ever.I’ve always found that Pixies music has a subtle beauty sometimes hidden behind the overdrive pedal, the melodies are magnificent. from the album Ferment,
a somewhat underrated 90's band
