As much as I love the first two records, I also really enjoyed their third album War and is the one that probably enabled them to step up a level in popularity. Much in the same way that Romance is doing for Fontaines DC now.Funnily enough I`ve been playing the Boy album in the car this week.
I`d forgotten how good it was and how good they were.
The problem is that they became overshadowed by how much of a bellend Bono became / was and that switched so many people off them ( including me )
Sadly I don't think the same can be said for Inhaler's third album Open Wide. More poppy than the first 2 and the production is certainly a step up, and I think this may earn them more followers. I love his voice and the bass throughout is fantastic, which make it a solid album. But for me it misses the indie rawness of the first 2 records. I think they're immensely talented and definitely have it within them to progress to an arena band outside of their homeland, but not with this album. The title track is one of my favourites. Shades of 80s U2?
