What is up with Dele Alli?

Honest to God, some of the cringe that Liverpool supporters get (rightly) panned for across this forum is nothing in comparison to the fawning over 45 minutes of footy that, in the end had no bearing on our survival whatsoever.

DCL probably gives us a good half of footy every few games and gets a dog's abuse, but this lad should have a statue outside BMD according to some of you lot. Utterly mental.

Both things can be true: The club has done the right thing in trying to help him get through his issues and hopefully back to playing one day, AND he is absolutely finished as a top flight footballer and his return should NOT be for us, no matter how many platitudes KT vomits up before the assembled press.
Has he goosed your bird or something

Preach.

Jeez, must be an international break. Anyway let’s get the Dele thread back to the top. Even though he’s about as relevant right now as super Cenk Tosun.

Any excitement (if any existed) has been absolutely sapped away from this.

I don’t understand why the club hasn’t addressed this issue. I know he’s not an Everton player nor is he contracted to us.

But if he’s still training with us, a decision probably needs to be made.

Kind of answered yourself there.

There's nothing to publicly address. If a club is happy to let an out of contract former player use their facilities then where is the pressing need for an announcement?

In terms of importance and need to know it's up there with the lawnmower maintenance schedules at Finch Farm.

Theres general interest amongst the fanbase though.

If a free agent is training and presumably playing games (as per Dyche) with the Everton first team squad - I’d say that’s newsworthy enough to inform fans of any decisions.

I have a gripe with the club and lack of proper communication anyway though. We don’t usually specify injury news… return dates etc.

I couldn’t tell you what injury Chermiti had or when he’s due back. I don’t think that’s right, personally.

Chermiti had/has a foot injury and has had surgery. When he's due back will be announced once he's recovered sufficiently to start proper training. As for Dele Alli he's not the first and won't be the last out of contract player to continue training with a club. It's a professional courtesy and happens all the time at clubs all over the place and is a complete non story.

The problem with making announcements about specifics of the injury and giving dates for recovery is that it only leads to internet experts putting their own timetables on things and then fuming if there's a setback - which there often can be with injuries.

Some fans are just too entitled, angry and petulant. Why risk their mattress soaking wrath for zero gain?

Let me get this straight, you believe we as fans don’t deserve to know specifically what injury Chermiti suffered? Was it ligaments? Was it a break? Amputation?

It’s not entitled to want to understand the situation around injuries. Quite an odd shout.

I’d agree with you about Dele - if our manager and DOF both hadn’t spoke publicly about the possibility of him signing a new deal at Everton and playing Premier League football again

He's got a foot injury. He's had surgery. He's not due back for a while. What more do you need to know and what exactly would you or could you do with more information?

I'd argue it's fairly entitled to believe you should have details of someone's personal medical history simply because they play for the team you support. You want to know simply because you feel you should know - that's entitlement. There's absolutely nothing you can do with that information.

As for Dele a vague answer was given to a question. If there's nothing solid there then again why say anything more? It would just be making a rod for their own backs.

I’d like to know what injury a starlet striker has suffered to keep him out of the squad for half a season.
