I was a hippie for a while and speak from first hand experience regarding what a bunch of confused and self-indulgent brats most happened to be. The older ones were the worst and basically went around sneering at "straight" people. It's like they picked all their beliefs out of the "I'm cool and edgy bible" and anything that went against the mantra was met with howls of derision. Ask one of these older hippies to give you solid, logical reasoning for their belief system, and you'll get nothing but diatribes against society and vague hypotheses regarding "spirituality" and "being in touch" with the planet. [Poor language removed]!

BTW, not all were like that, just the majority. The younger ones tended to be just out for a good time.
