There hasn't been too much anime series that are good coming out. Netflix and free downloads killed anime and no one will buy the DVDs anymore. It used to be you have to pay like $100 for a new anime series if you wanted to watch it, b/c places like Blockbuster carry very little anime. Now everybody just rents them. Also from what I heard the Japanese charge way too much for the rights to publish in North America. ADV and Geneon went belly up. The only big anime publishers are Funmation and Bandai now.
If you are looking for a decent new anime series I'm watching The Count of Monte Cristo.
Don't watch too much TV but I never miss an episode of Robot Chicken. Its the funniest show on TV, pity its only 15min. Also watch The Daily Show and the Colbert Report (though you can also watch the whole episodes online at comedycentral.com too).
