Johnny Todd (z-cars)

Johnny Todd, he took a notion
For to cross the ocean wide
And he's left his own true love behind him
Walking by the Liverpool tide

For a week, she wept with sorrow
Tore her hair and wrung her hands
Till she met another handsome sailor
Walking by the Liverpool sands

Fair young maid are you a weeping
For your Johnny gone to sea
If you'll wed with me tomorrow
I will kind and constant be

I will buy you sheets and blankets
I'll buy you a wedding ring
You shall have a silver cradle
For to rock the baby in

Johnny Todd came home from sailing
Sailing on the ocean wide
And he's found his fair and false one
Was another sailor's bride

All young men who go a sailing
For to fight the foreign foe
Do not leave your own true love like johnny
Marry her before you go
I know it's a folk song. But do we ever sing it?

Forever Everton is ridiculously cheesy but for me it's my no.1 because I can't help but think of it whenever I think of Goodison and a match day. I'm still young but for some reason it proper reminds me of my early years as a blue, the 03-04 and 04-05 which were my 1st and 2nd seasons as a ST. I remember singing it to myself whenever it came on the tannoy (psst.... I still do) and feeling "I'm so happy to be here today."

The GS has been surprisingly quiet this season - having said that there hasn't been much to sing about has there? Not counting money not being able to buy John Stones which was the exception. Mainly hear the away fans at Goodison these days :coffee:

What ,when and why "when you're smiling "
When you're smiling
When you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you

When you're laughing
When you're laughing
The sun comes shining through

But when You're crying you bring on the rain
So stop your crying, be happy again
Oh when your smiling, when you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you (without your kecks on)
The whole world smiles with youououou!

When you're smiling
When you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you

When you're laughing
When you're laughing
The sun comes shining through

But when You're crying you bring on the rain
So stop your crying, be happy again
Oh when your smiling, when you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you (without your kecks on)
The whole world smiles with youououou!

That song would have been like nails scraped along a blackboard when played before another turgid display of Martinez football :D

1960's favourite on our cup run and after, we shall not be moved was you never walk alone in that era into the 1970's too played and sung over the tannoy before every home game, Billy Butler was the DJ for a good while!

OK I know the op asked for recorded songs rather than crowd songs, but this when spat out with pure venom was a joy.

Oh we hate Bill Shankley and we hate St.John, but most of all we hate big Ron
and we'll hang the kopites one by one on the banks of the royal blue Mersey.
Oh to Hell with Liverpool and Rangers too, we'll throw them all in the Mersey
and we'll fight, fight, fight, with all our might for the lads in the royal blue jerseys.
KOPITES ARE GOB**ITES
KOPITES ARE GOB**ITES

I'm not sure if the name of the song but it goes;

Everton, oh we love Everton,
Everton oh we Love Everton,
And we Love our Neville Southall,
Neville Southall,

Which you repeat and then add another player until you have the starting 11 of the 84- 85 team.

I've only been in a situation where we got through it all the way once, in a bar in Florence with about 250 blues in 2009. There were some very confused American students in three and even more confused Itallians.

As above poster .....One True Legend
In a pub Wembley 2009 and the whole place in unison sang that song all the way through .Brilliant considering it was 24 or so years later.
