Loads in my garden on my Lavenders & my flowering Hebes - the buzzing noise is very loud ....
I'm very sorry and it is a very niche reference and it's unlikely well known, but this post took me back to 'the tunnel of prejudice' from south park way back. I'm sorry for laughing.

Not Brentford - actual bees and butterflies, insects in general.

Normally at this time of year our garden in teeming with critters, this year hardly anything anywhere. Went for a walk with my dad yesterday, same thing and that was in the wilds,

My mate is a wasp nest remover (not sure of actual title) and he normally does about5-8 nests a day at this time of year.... this week he has one 2 in 6 days.

If you have not noticed, go outside and have a look. Buddleia etc - lifeless
My garden is stacked with bee's mate

More than .most years tbh.

The Insecticide they plant in pellets on crops has seen them off - it's a systemic pesticide granule that stays in the plant systems for months as the bees pollinate the crops - fatal same with caterpillars ... The EU allowed it ..... saying it was safe .... I used to dress up like a space man while putting the pellets in the pots in the late 1970s - killed any plant pest - when I retied I used predators in each green house hooked them on the plant worked great .... outside is the problem the predators would just fly off anywhere ....

I’ve hardly seen any Swallows, House Martins or Swifts this year too, who live solely on insects.

However I’ve just been for my morning trail run and saw loads of butterflies basking in the sun.

It’s got to be down to how wet it’s been.
Take a walk around Hale farmland there's plenty of Swifts , there were thousands with that ant hatch last week.
Not so many Swallows tho , not even seen one House martin.
Strange summer.
