I've been there. Unwittingly stayed next door to gun shop that had a firing range in the back. Woke up to the sound of gunfire and nearly soiled the bed. All the streets are numbered instead of named. It's well scatty.

I liked San Jose, I stopped off between Tortuguera and the Pacific coast. It's not as nice as those two places, obviously, and it was an utter nightmare driving around there but good coffee and a lively nightlife.

...that’s interesting. I watched a documentary once that said Costa Rica was the happiest place on the planet, but they clearly hadn’t factored in San Jose.

I think @NoiBlau 's gun range experience must of affected his experience. I enjoyed San Jose, interesting place for a day or two and Costa Rica is amazing. Best place I've ever visited.
