The Hinch probably, as I was a left back

If I'd come along a few years later than I did then it'd probably one of Carsley or Gravesen

I never wanted to be your flashy stars like your Kanchelskis' or your Cantona's or your (original) Ronaldo's

I think it was because I knew I wasn't a very good player and that to pretend to be them would almost be doing them an injustice in a weird way

My first football memories are from 1985/86 so Gary Lineker was on my wall. Then I wanted to be Maradona even after his hand of god goal. Would have been livid now but back when I was a kid I just remember being mesmerised by him

Johnny morrisey for me.
Loved watching him and used to mind his car sort of in are street.
We used to run up to the game 5 to 3 and back afterwards and say we had minded the cars.
His wife worked in a shop the top of the road so he parked the car there and walked up,(imagine a modern Player doing that)
He always had time for us kids
Gentleman.
Loved Kendal as well

I remember playing football as a kid in the street and you picked a player to be. My first player was Wayne Clarke. I then joined a kids football team and i wanted to be like Stuart McColl. Just cause of that goal in the 89 final.

Big Dunc, pretty much lol even though I was a pretty small kid haha.

Although here's a random story - the first shirt number I ever picked (and stuck with for years afterwards) was actually number 12. My younger brother already 'had' number 9 as he'd already played for schoolboy & sunday league teams with that number, so I wanted to be different. The no. 12 for Everton at the time just happened to be Daniel Amokachi, who was my hero for a time because those FA Cup semi final goals in '95 lol
