Right ok, if we get European football we need to bolster the squad. Why is everybody mentioning strikers when I personally think we need to look at full backs. I know we have some versatile players but if Baines or Coleman get injured who can play there comfortably? Heitinga? Jagielka? Oviedo? Hibbert is coming to the end of his days and Neville doesn't figure in my plans. You might think I'm talking rubbish but that is my priority. We do need a centre forward as well and I think Benteke would be ideal, if we could afford him.
If Fellaini is sold we'll need a solid midfielder and I have no idea who could replace his boots.
I'm excited at the prospect of a new Everton team entering 2014 playing regularly in European competition. The Europa league has a gruelling schedule and there is some tasty sides in this competition. I would be just as happy to enter this competition as the champions league.
IMO, I'm not sure everton are ready for the champions league.

We have enough full backs IMO, Hibbert, Oviedo, Stones and young Garbutt are decent cover players for Coleman and Baines. I personally think we should be looking at a CM and a ST. Jelavic has underperformed and Ossie seems to be off the pace atm.

just like us to get someone different in and he'll be 31 by the time the season starts and I don't want our 3 first choice centre backs at the start of the season to be 31, 31 and 35

Used to have a big man crush on Valencia. He's not used that much any more by Sir Alex, I wonder if he'd be available. With a guy like that you could move Mirallas behind the striker and give him free reign to cause havoc.
Villa isn't going to sell Benetke
as Villa is not going down.
If for the right price (say under 6M or a loan and sign) would not mind taking a chance on Altidore. I saw him a couple times for AZ and it looks like the Dutch have taught him how to play football. He's still only 23 and probably won't peak until 28-30 years of age. The talent was always there with him and he could be a nice little bargain.
As for the other Villa players who inexplictably don't get that much playing time. Moyes (if he's here) has always made good with talented players who for one reason or another are banished to the bench on their clubs. So Bent and N'Zogbia (would rather have N'Zogbia) would not be bad gets either.
