I’d say he’s the least likely to be a bad apple.Holgate
Great post.To the extent there is a rotten core it's obviously organizational as it predates most of the squad and appears to infect the newcomers. Players who are competent elsewhere are incompetent at Everton, and at this point it's not simply poor incomings (though it is that). I sincerely hope, at least right now, we don't give up on FL as he continues to strike me as the type well suited to rebuild Everton into something recognizable. Panic buys and managerial changes and a new stadium won't change what's broken, IMO.
My very uneducated opinion would be it begins with some very steady hands at manager and player (like FL and Tark, perhaps) who embrace quiet leadership at this stage rather than holding on to former glory, paired with mature, hungry, youthful players who care about Everton's history and see the opportunity to be a part of it being restored. Bringing in leftovers and former stars looking for a payday from a desperate club obviously hasn't worked.
I'm harsh on him, but I do think it can't be great for morale to trot out a clearly deficient player in Davies year after year. Is he generally thought of as a locker room asset who cares deeply about the club? If so that could change my perspective, although it obviously won't do anything to change his skillset.
That's no excuse. Pretty much every club in the PL has a player or two on excessive contracts doing absolutely nothing to earn them.Wonder if it’s less particularly bad apples now, so much as players earning huge sums but not leading by example, giving 100% etc.
Gomes for example reputed to be on north of 100k per week, yet barely makes a first 11. Would someone like Grey look at that and think why should I be arsed? Does that make Gomes a rotter, Grey a rotter or both of them?
Probably easier to say who isn’t in that category tbh, likes of Coleman, Townsend, Davies, Gordon, Keane etc….. most of whom I think we could question their quality, but I would bet their commitment is exemplary.
Basically is there simply a morale issue due to mosh weighing out fortunes on wasters.
Players who back the manager and get behind him. Is that what you mean.Neville osman coleman snitches the lot of them there the rot and we still aint cleared the smell
Committed and professional. Becoming a squad player from being first 11.The Abysmal Coleman, number one Brown Noser, up the arse of every manager. Personally gives away about 15 goals a season, then lpoks around flapping his arms, blaming everyone but himself. Shocking stuff!
I agree - we have the most bumbling set of individuals ever to sit at the top table of any football club in living memory. They treat the Club like it's their own plaything and invite the supporters to watch from the sidelines like they are doing us a favour.Moshiri.
Blue Bill.
The rest of the board.
I agree Gomes and Keane should perhaps move on, but it's incredibly harsh to call them the 'rotten core'
I believe Keane is genuinely trying very hard but has previously spoken about his mental health issues and believe he's low on confidence. He could maybe benefit from going to a smaller club
Gomes had a really bad injury and hasn't been quite the same since. But again, harsh to call him 'rotten'
Think Holgate is OK as a squad player and don't believe he has a bad attitude
Agree, however maybe we should give Tarkovskyi at least a few games ?.I'm slowly getting to this stage..........we badly need a rebuild.
Hang on to Gordon and Pickers, everyone else can go for the right money.
