This needs to be read with perspective and not ignorance.

It's fair to say that at the moment the options are a bit sparse looking for a new manager and its a pivotal moment in the clubs history as relegation could be catastrophic. When I look through potential candidates I keep finding myself going back to Ralph Hassenhuttl and here is why...

Southampton are a selling club and have been ever since they got back in the Premier league. On top of that they have always had one of the lowest budgets. But during his time at Southampton, Hassenhuttl never had them even close to a relegation battle at the business end of the season. That in itself is a fantastic achievement. Last season when we were deep in the mire, I looked at the clubs around us and never felt Southampton were one who would be in trouble as Hassenhuttl always found a way for them to pull themselves out of it. And so it proved.

He was bizarrely sacked this season when not even in real danger at an early part of the season and since he left their new manager has lost every league game apart from against us which is not surprising given our form. That is another tick in the box for Hassenhuttl as he got a better tune out of his Southamtpon team than a new manager could with the advantage of a new manager bounce and all that.

Whenever we would face Southampton away under Hassnhuttl it was an extremely difficult game and nearly always we lost. He knew how to set a team up well. Of course there were a few poor results such as the 9-0 defeat but that would often be followed by a good result next time out which is indicative of his management skills. He also has a good record of getting surprise results home and away to best clubs in the league.

I think he is that x factor type manager who will get a tune out of this lot and if he takes over this team with a few new signings I think he has what it takes to keep them up. He also knows the league which is a bonus and he is currently available and I would imagine attainable.

If it's between us, Spurs and West Ham we have no chance. A lot more Italian restaurants in London and, no doubt, he will have had a word with Carlo who will tell him to...swerve!
