Now that we are pretty much in no man's land in the table I have no idea why we haven't looked at Oviedo and Garbutt on the wing more. It seems like everyone on the squad including Yer Ma has played on the wing for us except for them.

Baines will hopefully be around for a few years yet but his first understudy should be Garbutt in my opinion.
I would use Oviedo to cover on the wing.
Maybe in time both Garbutt and Oviedo could become our new "Bainaar"? We will call them Garbiedo

Oviedo been injured mate....possibly wont see him til next season, dont see anything to suggest Garbutt is a winger.Good full back tho.

I kinda hope it's Garbutt as if he is playing better than Oviedo then we've got a top LB on our hands as I rate Oviedo pretty highly.
As already said, if we can get one of them up to speed as LM then keeping all 3 of them isn't a problem

I personally wouldn't have Baines first choice next season. I would give it Garbutt. The lad looks like he could be class and I doubt he is going to want to sit on the bench for a few years. I think if we ain't going to offer him more game time then he will be off in the summer and we can't let a future star go for absolutely nothing.

I think it will probably be Oviedo even though I certainly hope it's Garbutt. talented, young, and home grown. He is my choice for heir apparent for Bainesy.

Consistently underrated but most games his contribution to the team is very good. When he eventually goes we'll certainly look back with gratitude at his time here. Let's hope Garbutt/Oviedo will be good enough to fill his shoes.
Some stats. from Saturday :

Involved in 8 Goal Attempts was…
Leighton Baines as Everton made it four wins in their last five at the expense of Burnley. Registering three clean sheets in the process, Everton defensively have improved considerably in recent months especially on their own patch with five clean sheets in their last six showings. Add that Everton finish the season with a further three home games plus Baines’ persistence in offering a dual threat and while the Toffee’s aren’t blessed with a double gameweek, acquiring an in form Leighton Baines could be the difference in many a mini league. As evidence the full back topped the gameweek for goal attempts involvement with eight which included four key passes and more impressively four goal attempts while in the last five gameweeks since returning from injury Baines ranks third alongside Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard for key passes with 13. He’s also found the target three times in this period; the most from any defender to average 5.4 points per game and more than any Chelsea defender.
