You do wonder just how low Everton sank in 1994 when you think how many Blues legends were in that side.

I put it down to bad management. Howard Kendall resigned in early December, because the board wouldn't sanction the signing of Dion Dublin.

The late and great (a legend of this club as a player) Jimmy Gabriel, was then caretaker manager for the whole of December. Sadly Jimmy was in way over his head. A record of one draw and six defeats speaks for itself.

Then in January we appointed Mike Walker who along with that spanish kopite, is the joint worst manager in our modern history. I really do think if it wasn't for Howard resigning, we would at least have finished mid table that season.

From a legal point of view, I’m obviously not making any slanderous remarks against a professional player. I was being slightly facetious too.

But, while I am glad he didn’t save it, it’s always been questionable.

Oh it was a very soft goal to give away, but when you are in the situation we were in there, you take whatever breaks you get!

I would pick everyone of those older players over today's prima donnas with the exception of DCL over Cottee. Never saw the fuss over Cottee and there where times when he was on the pitch when we may have been as well playing with 10 men.

Walker was worse. Jeez.. Barlow and Angell. That start to 94-95. Shocking! You had to live through it.
