I find it strange that some assume the more dynamic or instinctive footballers will not be tactically astute or particularly interested in that aspect. Or one with a bit of a weight issue and premature balding will automatically be a simplistic 442 Blood and Thunder sort.

And likewise think that the deep-lying playmakers or defensive minded fullbacks will automatically be great football thinkers.
That wasn't what I was getting at mate. What I meant here was quite simply I wondered what sort of tactical set-up he's been using at Derby.

Tuchel figured out how to defensively organise those players and play out on the break. It was like a light was switched on.

I think Lampard would have learned from that.
Maybe he would, but he hadn't by the time he was sacked, so we can't know, and I think we need more than speculation as a basis for appointing our manager.

I am not for a full time appointee while the boards under review and we have no DoF (preference would be Dunc till seasons end) but I dont understand at all why Jesse Marsch's name would not be thrown about in the rumor mill. Leipzig went badly sure, but 6 months ago this was one of the brightest and most sought after coaches in Europe, with an excellent development track record at Salzburg. The quickness of his dismissal is what I would think a rare opportunity to fetch someone who was one of the most engaging german style coaches (although american). And his energy on the touch line and brutal honesty (let alone no language barrier) I would think would fit us nicely.

The idea that he wouldn't be preferred over say a Lampard I find laughable.
In his late 40's but wears skinny jeans.

For me Clive, it's a no.

If Rooney is interviewing for the Everton job I cant see Ferguson having a sniff of it anyway, No way would WR step on the shoes of his former idol if he had a run at the job.

…..not so sure we can believe you, Dave.

I know its incredibly appealing especially when your club has been perennially mediocre for a couple of decades to embrace nostalgia and romanticism. Abiding by tradition and a sense of devotion is sound in principle but ultimately a savvy and resourceful manager surpasses anyone with past affiliations to the club. Kovacs or Diego Martinez over Ferguson or Rooney
I agree with this sentiment, but I would argue favoring Ferguson has less to do with nostalgia personally then a lack of assurance in the board making a decision without the internal review completed, or a DoF which might come after the review. He is the 2nd on the bench and would be the natural shoulder tapped in an interim and I think could at least muster us to avoid relegation. The club might suggest they are trying to attract someone on an interim I find that very unlikely.

Longterm I agree but my biggest fear is the board making a decision with limited options (as its midseason) while their decision process is being examined and might change drastically in a few months.

He signed the players which went on to win the champions league.
He gets very unnecessary stick.

He would probably have seen the season out if Tuchel had not become available.
Probably yeah. I mean, those players were good players it's not like he 'found' them as such. He didn't really know how to get the best out of them and to be an extent Tuchel is still finding difficulty with that too.

I thin he could be interesting but i'd be wary of hiring somebody on the back of success at RB Salzburg, by far the Richest and Best team in Austria

That's not what I was getting at either lol I was saying it in agreement about WR perhaps being a bit more of a tactically astute manager than some assume. A big perhaps of course as I watch precisely zero Derby football.

I meant it as a general observation looking through the thread. You've obviously decided to do a bit of reading and form an opinion based on that rather than the lazier route I've described.

He signed some of them not all of them people seem to keep forgetting this is Chelsea we're talking about they've been a superpower for years even our esteemed former manager came 3rd with them not so long ago. People keep talking like he built them up from scratch when he inherited a team full of stars.
