Why have Zoo's not got massive sound cannons if they even exist. Surely in this case a Gorilla would crepe itself at a massive blast of noise. Then again it may just go nuts and smash the world up.

Most of the people who are saying they should not of shot the gorilla probably have not seen the footage the gorilla was at 1st was calm and intrigued but then became stressed when all them bystanders started screaming it then grabbed the child by the arm and started dragging him through the water leaving the zookeeper no option but to shoot it

The National Rifle Association has today insisted the tragic death of Harambe the seventeen-year-old Gorilla could have been avoided had Harambe been allowed to exercise his second amendment rights.

NRA spokesperson Wayne Lapierre said the only way to avoid tragic shootings inside Zoos is to make sure there are more guns available to those involved.

He told reporters, “If someone is pointing a rifle at you, even though you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong, then you should be able to defend yourself.

“I guarantee that poor gorilla would still be here today if he had been carrying a side-arm, or kept a rifle of his own within reach.

“Anyone would think twice about opening fire on a Gorilla if you thought it might shoot back.”

So the gorilla was basically protecting the child more that it's mother was doing.......

Shouldn't be zoos now a days. Most of the time they hide in their little huts, because they aren't meant to be kept in captivity. If you want to see what an animal looks like better off watching a documentary showing them in their natural habitat the way nature intended.

These poor animals are held prisoner in order to sell plastic toys that look like them in a gift shop.

So sad, the only innocent party has ended up dead. How a 4 year old can get in a gorilla pen is shocking on the zoo's part. Mother should have been watching but she is not totally to blame as kids run off in crowded places all the time, she is just massively unfortunate her kid decided to jump in a gorilla pen. All the idiots screaming at the top spooking the Gorilla, what were they thinking? Put your camera phones away and [Poor language removed]. Leave it to the experts.

As much as zoos get stick for keeping animals captive the amount of conservation they do is brilliant, whether the animals should be on display for entertainment is a different matter

This happened in Jersey zoo years ago and the gorilla saved the child from harm. If people hadn't stressed this gorilla out by screaming it would in all likelihood have done the same.
Do not quote me on this but I do recall apes and other species are sympathetic if they hear the cries of another animal. I swear I saw it on a documentary but I cannot specially remember which one. I do not think you can ever predict an animal's reaction though, so I am not sure I completely fault the zoo.

I went the zoo with my daughter when she was around 2 years old,in the monkey island part you can go above them and watch them climb ropes, etc, while we were at the viewing window an orangutan sat on the ledge and tried to give my daughter a piece of fruit,it then stroked the window ever so gently as if trying to stroke her face, dont get me wrong i wouldnt take a chance if it could actually make contact but it was fasinating to see the interaction between them
