Transfer Rumour Wilfred Ndidi

This is the biggest issue with “free” signings. Players out of contract then double their wage demands because they know the buying club are saving on a transfer fee. Ndidi is clearly a good player, but he won’t be worth anywhere near what him and his agent will be demanding in salary.

Think that’s a fairish point but the net says he was on about £75k a week , the lad is 27 so effectively in his prime for that position. Obviously he won’t be wanting less than he was on , we aren’t paying a fee but reports not long ago had him linked to huge fees of about £50m . Even if you half that fee that £25m works out at what £150/160k a week over 3 years and that’s not counting whatever wages the player would get .

All of that is just my badly written clumsy way of saying I don’t want to be paying the lad silly money but wages in the ballpark of where he was doesn’t seem ridiculous and would potentially allow us to get a player in to do a job .

Not sure about this this one, all I’ve really heard is he’s partial to a spell on the physio table….

Tbf the reson why he missed so many games is because he was injured in the January while the afcon was on and Nigeria got to the finals.

He missed 9 internationals, 3 fa cup matches and only 10 league matches.

Having said that the fact that 3 out of the last 4 seasons hes been out for 65-74 day periods is a worry like.

If he came on the same wage as Tarks max I’d be sound with that, but I think he will get more elsewhere.

Wants 100 grand a week. That's 15m over a three year contract. Not convinced
I know some people dont want to hear this but 5m a year for a decent player? Absolutely yes. Id like Kev to negotiate that down a bit, but if you have 20 outfield players costing you 5m per year your player costs are 100m. Thats less than half of our current 237m player cost.

Ndidi isn't close to the player he was, he was OK last season. But in the previous two, he was pretty woeful.

Now, was that down to Rodgers asking too much of him? He's a limited player but a great destroyer, Rodgers tried to turn him into a create player and he's not got the passing to do it.

Also, there are serious doubts about his age (a boring stereotype, but warranted here). He got kicked out of the U17 championships for failing a wrist scan to check their ages.

Personally I wouldn't care if he went if we had any money, but we need to keep as many as we can to avoid paying fees.

I think we have to look at in terms of the overall cost. If we were buying him, paying £30m and then paying him £80k a week (£4m a season) for 5 years, we are spending £50m on him in total.

If we sign him on a free, we may have to pay him £100k a week (£5.2m) and sign him on 5 year deal, £26m in total. The biggest risk is that the transfer doesnt work out and then we are stuck loaning him out. Therefore we may want to go with a 3 year deal, rather than a 5 year deal.
