I hope not. McCarthy is a way better player than many gives him credit for, but he, like most of our team, hasnt been trained correctly for a while now. He was a giant during he's first season with us, and i have no doubt Koeman will bring him back up to par. I would still love signing both Witsel and Carvalho, and would think McCarthy could work well with both. In a 4 1 4 1, we can fit Carvalho behind both Witsel and McCarthy, and if we play with only two midfielders, they would bring fantastic competition for places, and we would have 3 midfielders fully able to do the job. At this moment we've only got an aging, but still great, Barry and an underperforming McCarthy. Even though Cleverley didnt impress after his injuries last season, he was good during his first run of games and would make a good squad player. If we keep all our midfielders and bring in Witsel and Carvalho, we would be very well equipped to handle all teams, with 4 great but different midfielders. If anyone is sold, Im hoping it will be Cleverley and not McCarthy.

I dont think Besic will cut it, at least not if these injuries keeps cutting he's seasons short. He's not reliable enough to be a first team player(yet).

I don't think Gibson will be in the managers future plans. The club renewed his contract because of his relatively young age and so will still see some value in a transfer fee instead of just releasing him at the end of his contract.
