If the player decides he wants to move, we can do very little about it. We can say no to a move and hope that he gets on with things like Baines did when Moyes wanted him at United, or he could down tools like Lescott did and force a sale. I think that the Bosman ruling all them years ago in the long run has given players way too much power and there`s plenty of examples of players signing contracts and after a short time wanting too move and downing tools to get their own way, and footballs the worse for it.
Yes, but it's a big if. Are you aware of any indication that he wants to leave?
These are exciting times at Everton and anyway, I don't think we need the money for PSR purposes.

It's the inconsistent application of the rule that annoys us.
My point being that Garner's tackle from behind being given as a foul is hardly evidence of a shocking level of refereeing. There are a lot more egregious decisions given throughout the world of football. If someone is truly riled by that particular decision then they are never going to find a league in the world which matches up to their levels of expectations.

If you apply the logic of 'Seen them given / not given" then there aren't that many truly bad decisions. As long as humans are involved then no matter how good they are there is always going to be some variations and inconsistencies in decision making or interpretation in a particular moment. Ultimately most decisions that are viewed as contentious by fans or the media often do have a degree of justification when looked at through the lens of the overly specific laws of the game - which are the bigger problem IMO.

The ref in the Wolves game had a perfectly adequate game but is still bemoaned over a tackle from behind that is defined as a foul by the laws of the game. If that is claimed as evidence of a poor ref or a terrible standard throughout the league then there is no hope.

I'd say the bigger issue is tribalism based borderline childishness when things don't go the way a fan wants them to and a media desperate to blow every little thing up as a major event to feed the 24hr rolling news monster.

Childish tribalism on the part of biased fans is not the cause of referees' nor VAR's inconsistent decision making.

Our "meh" performances now are still having us well in the game, and still picking up points. An absolute world away from 2 months ago.
Mad isn't it. Even our "meh" games are getting us the results Dyche craved (tight draws), whereas a couple of months back a "meh" game turned from a tight 0-0 to a multiple goal pumping in minutes.

I thought the ref in the Wolves game was excellent apart from the foul given against Garner for winning the ball as clean as a whistle 5 yards away from him. We would have had a good break as well. It was a horrific decision yet overall fair play he had excellent game imo. One bad decision over a game and it wasn't a key one like a penalty so no complaints from me.

Not heard anything but just the way modern football works. A player can be happy one minute and go off on international duty and can have players having a word in their ear.

It may not cause a decision to occur but it does lead to every decision that goes against a team being perceived as worse than it actually is - Garner's tackle being one example of many. There are people fuming about it but it was a tackle from behind which refs are instructed to be very strict on.

And as the ref is viewing from a different angle to the TV cameras it could have looked a little untidy or like contact was made. I'd give him a pass all things considered.

From what I remember he did get it clean as a whistle from our angle but the ref can't be viewing incidents from every angle possible in that moment. It's not impossible for it to look a little clumsy from where he was so I think 'horrific decision' is maybe a little hyperbolic within the context of the tackle.

We seem to apply vigilant and solid defending except for one blip that's cost us a win, if we can sort that out we could end up in the upper top half of the table or even sneak away with a Europa conference slot

Well, now is the time to start. Because if we are going to accept the standards of the last 35 years, we’re all wasting our time.
Now you're talking the Everton I know. I recall the recent saviours, agent johnson, super bill, the greggs, ntl, kings dock, destination Kirkby, moshiri, and all told each has been a disaster in their own right. New stadium, very glad. Moyes in, very glad. I'll keep my powder dry for this summer, as have said, there's a mighty big job to do, 'unprecedented' I believe is the most accurate word.
