I thought that they did OK. Haiti were physically strong (but fair) and an awkward team to play against.Love how the narrative on social media is the Lionesses are now crap because they’re barely beating Haiti and how the media would be slaughtering the men if it were them playing forgetting that many an England men’s side have struggled in openers/second games against lesser sides and been given daggers, for example Trinidad and Tobago in 06, Algeria in 2010, Tunisia in both 98 and 2018
This has been interesting. I've only watched the USA v Vietnam match and there were two VAR decisions that got announced. The referee was in general not at the level required for WC match, but the announcing of the decision put a burden on her that she didn't need. I would guess that English was not the referees first language and to make her announce it on the loud speaker seemed like too much. I get the optics are better if it comes from the referee on the field but you could have an English speaking person in the VAR hq announce it much more easily.Fans at the Ground etc, will get to hear VAR decisions in real time, not after game etc
The explanations will come directly from the on-field referee, who will wear a microphone, and will only speak once the decision-making process has been completed. Announced in English, the offence committed, the player responsible, and a description of the incident in question will be covered.
That run ended in the Denmark China game. 4 Everton players started for Denmark, got a late goal to win 1-0.A pen in every single game so far
What a farce
Her and Raso had a running battle all game. Both gave as good as they got. There was no rolling around lying on the ground for any length of time.both got up and got on with the matchYou obviously didn't watch Katie McCabe closely enough. She is a proper snide, leaves her foot in and drops like a stone at every opportunity.
I don't think Raso initiated that, but she stood up for herself and got the last laugh with the penalty. I watched McCabe in the WSL at the back end of last season and it is a big part of her game. More generally, the play-acting isn't as bad as in the men's game, but it is definitely going on. I thought a few of the Haitian girls were at it today, exaggerating contact and rolling around. Her and Raso had a running battle all game. Both gave as good as they got. 9 games in a row where one side has drawn a blankThat run ended in the Denmark China game. 4 Everton players started for Denmark, got a late goal to win 1-0.
Don't get me wrong, I think McCabe is a top class player but she has that cynicism to her game. They glossed over it in the studio by mentioning that she grew up playing alongside lads, as if to explain her rugged approach. I agree that Raso made the most of the contact, which is also cynical, but Sheva did shove her and gave the ref little choice.Haven't watched much of the WSL so I can't say much of McCabes general play etc. From memory of the game I honestly thought Raso had laid the marker first with an untimed tackle but could be wrong on that. I think the penalty was soft at best as Raso as soon as she felt any hand on her back threw herself to the ground like a ton of bricks
I was at the game...it was very loudAre you sure it was muted? NZ fans are embarrassingly quiet tbh
