Working from Home….

So Covid originally drove this but now seems to be part of life. However it may end up being not quite so clever…..

“ The boss of electronics and white goods seller AO World has warned that staff working from home could find their jobs outsourced overseas.

John Roberts also told the Bolton-based retailer's 3,000 employees that 'hybrid working', when staff come into the office only intermittently, was banned.

'Working from home, you might as well be working abroad, which is only a step away from outsourcing,' he said, warning that cheaper workers could be sourced in places such as Bangalore in India.”

It’s better for to do hybrid due to my job, I need the quiet time to concentrate on meetings as strategic planning etc

However, it does cause issues with accountability and massive issue with communication which impacts delivery. ICT is great for certain things but you find people are less likely to “teams call” someone due to not wanting to bother them. Whereas in an office they’re ore likely to walk over to someone’s desk and ask the same question.

Training is the one thing I think is affected the most by WFH. You learn without even realising you are learning when you are in the office environment.

Some office perks you get used to and miss every day WFH so I've had to buy a photocopier and build a room to put it in and now have to finger my bird in there every few hours. She's happier, girls out the office are feeeeeewmin though.

Indeed bud. When we went into first lockdown I had to take on 30 staff in prep for EU Exit.

Trying to get 30 people, who has never met each other or me, in person, then try and get them to understand quite complex law was quite a challenge.

we still experience the knowledge gap now with hybrid working. Funnily enough my manager is having a meeting right now to inform front line staff that they’re back in the office full time. This issue is causing major problems

The female works from home 2 days a week. Her work doesn't oay the leccy or lighting bills, nor the great she insists on. I find I cant play loud music nor operate my workshop while she's working. What's more is i have to heft cups of tea upstaurs every tine i fancy a cuppa otherwise she gets miserable. It's my home that's being used for her work's benefit rent free ffs! I need a union.

Yup, WFH for 3 years now but can go into the office whenever I want.

I've been to their office.

Hell on earth.

I'd rather work from home and/or Bangalore.
