Working from Home….

WFH most of the time, our head office and most of my team are based in Spain and it works fine. The team in Spain have to be in the office 2 days a week and wish they didn’t as the noise and distractions make them less productive. If people are evaluated on output rather than being present doesn’t really matter where they are if the job can be done from there (not all work can be). We also have a policy allowing you to work from ‘anywhere’ I.e. another country to your home for 30 days a year.

I currently WFH 2 days per week (global banking outfit), my employer is gagging to get everyone back in the office but until recently was worried about losing ‘human capital’ to tech companies with a more relaxed attitude. Think the layoffs in tech have emboldened them a bit recently to try to get back to all on site.
Personally makes zero difference to productivity and was a key point of coming here.
A lot of their real estate calculations and depreciation is is based of cost per seat and they continue to plan for full time in office working, so I suspect when they run the occupancy numbers and see how much these ½ empty offices are costing them they must be horrified.
Quite why they don’t see the opportunity for cost saving I don’t know, but being a bank the fee earners are generally customer facing so that kind of drives the culture.

Been WFH since 2009, my company tried to outsource jobs to other cheaper markets but then realised that wasn't a particularly bright thing to do when all our customers complained.

This is the thing about outsourcing. It rarely works well and comes back in-house in the end. It’s not as cheap as it used to be either. We’ve outsourced some application development to Malaysia and it’s just a chew. Stuffs never done right. Always complaints. Manager fumes but hasn’t the bottle to front them. Language issues etc. We just sit back with that “I told you so look”

I work 2 in office, 3 at home. It's now our company policy.

But since i started in June 2020 this hasn’t officially kicked in and won't until our office refit is complete. So at the moment i hotdesk 1 day a week and wfh 4 days.

I get alot more done at home with less distractions. Since we started hybrid working the organisation outputs have increased so all at senior level can see the benefits.

Hybrid working and 4 days weeks are the future.

Any company that forced people back into the office (cough, my employer) after it going fine (actually, posting record revenue) for 2 years is braindead. Threatening to outsource employees jobs because they’re in a working situation with a better work-life balance is a twisted indictment of late-stage capitalism, more than it is a indictment of working from home.

WFH 2 days a week.... the whole thing harkens back to control based management and thinking people are good workers because of how many hours they sit at their desk (she is always here when I am - first in last out, etc) rather than true productivity and value they bring to the enterprise (USS).
EXACTLY it's the classic busybody who walks around with a clipboard

This was my experience too Although I retired before the pandemic. My hybrid working was 2 days in the office and 3 visiting customers and suppliers. My main issue with wfh full time is the passing on of experience but I certainly think 2 days office/ 3 days home is eminently workable.
