I wonder how scathing you would be about Franklin Field.
How big is athletics out there? I know college stuff had good crowds but would they fill out a 70-80k stadium over there for this?What an underwhelming venue.

No, which is why it's a small venue. As college track and field goes, the Penn Relays are an enormous event and it's a half-filled 50k oblong-ball stadium most days despite having like 15k participants across five days at the high school and college levels.
Thought as much mate. Guessing it would only be the Olympics that would drag out large crowds.

Our performance in track and field has fallen off in the last decade because oblong-ball and roundball vacuum up all the guys that can sprint or jump out of a gym.

Track and Field as they call it. AFAIK they dont draw a lot of spectators....it's the first time the World Championships has been held in the States.
It's mad. The maximum attendance will be about 20,000.

I really enjoy Athletics. Very fond memories from my youth watching Lingard Christie, Colin Jackson and Sally Gunnell winning their medals. Pretty sad how unpopular it is now. Michael Johnson is a great pundit

I mean, we have like four household name track and field athletes in our history. Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson. Jackie Joyner-Kersee. End list. You would have to be Sergey Bubka levels of successful for people to recognize you on a street corner, if you did anything other than sprint.
