World Cup 2030 & 2034 Confirmed

Climate change. Spain will be too hot by then
That's another thing. Confirmation (as if we needed it) that people in power are not taking this problem seriously at all. A tournament on 3 continents* with all the flights that entails.

* I'm aware that a lot of the distances covered in Russia are far freater than those of travelling between Morocco and the Iberian peninsula. It's the South American inclusion I'm talking about mainly.

Should have been just South America or just Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

Colin Murray suggested that, for a nation to host the men's world cup they would commit to hosting the women's, homeless and international GLFA world championship at the same time.

Second point, totally unconnected to the first, having read David Conn's excellent work on FIFA you can't help but feel Blatter was really trying to limit how much everyone stole and ultimately, it did for him.

Yeah it was a total stitch up so they could give it to Saudi Arabia in 2034. With one world cup (2030), they've taken Europe, South America and Africa out of the rotation.

So for the next 10 years, and especially in the last 1 or 2 years before the 2034 World Cup, the media will be going into overdrive about human rights in Saudi Arabia, only to forget all about it again once the World Cup is over and everyone has packed up and gone home, whilst breathlessly talking about what a wonderful World Cup it was just like Qatar 2022. Meanwhile England will wear some sort of protest badge or make some sort of gesture before kick off for the first couple of group matches, only to abandon it after FIFA warns them they face possible expulsion from the tournament if they continue with it.
They`ll forget about all that human rights jarg well before a ball is kicked as they`ll be more interested in the ad revenue that all the extra games they show will bring in. If they really cared about human rights they`d refuse to cover it, and football associations would refuse to play. But money talks.

Think the process of awarding a world cup to 3 considerations to fast track Saudi to hosting a World Cup is far worse than anything Blatter or Johannsen did, which is quite the achievement.

Awarding a grand total of 3 games to South America and probably 20-30 games to Morocco, ruling them out for another 12 years is quite something.
Doesn't their rules also mean that the 2038 world cup will automatically be held in North Amerrica (Given that New Zealand or Vanuatu are unlikely to put in a bid)

They're going to have to change their rulings, because every confederation will be ineligible except Concacaf, OFC.

So no one in central America are bidding, so either USA get it back, or they change the law.

Given that they just awarded 4 u17 world cups in a row to Qatar, nothing is off the cards

The year is 2034 the Royal Saudi Arabia World Cup is upon us. Amazon hold the broadcasting rights following their brutal 5 year war against Google which resulted in the amalgamation of Netflix after their proxy wars fought in Europe which killed 4% of the worlds population. Amazon unleashed the Prime Orbital Cannon last year and their position is thought to be safe.

A pint of milk costs 437634 Prime Credits and is only available in Amazon controlled territory. Prime Police roam the streets ensuring people have Prime membership. The few humans left elsewhere, who survived the climate change acceleration brought on by Apples AI nanobot strike backfiring against Microsoft in 2028 must make do raiding destroyed Microsoft Beyond Meat manufacturing plants for meat paste. Bitcoin is worth less than human life.

The few billionaires left must brave dust storms, radioactive rain and wandering rogue AI’s to get their Super CyberYachts to Saudi Arabia through the Metaverse.

The young German team are being touted as dark horses for the tournament.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see it go back to USA

Football is increasingly a semi-scripted* sport for the customers of a select few teams. An uncontested award to Saudi was only possible due to the backroom set-up that has led to 3 continents being removed from the competition and Australia being prevented from bidding by changing the goalposts.

Still, millions will watch, billions will be made, and we will all devour the product!

*in terms of manipulation of tournament formats and qualifying criteria, financial settlements and associated FFP rules to bake the advantage in.
