Watching Yankees vs. Phillies right now.

Phillies up 2-0 on two Chase Utley solo home runs.

Come on Phillies !!!

(For you around the world, the Yankees are the Manchester United of American Baseball. I guess the Phillies would be consider like Aston Villa or Spurs)

don't know if i agree here Bill, if you're rooting for the phillies you've probably never been to that craphole of a city. brotherly love my ass. the philadelphia supporters are infamous for being terrible, there is a jail built into lincoln field for the eagles; they're the fans that threw batteries at santa claus! snopes.com: Philadelphia Fans Boo Santa Claus

i know tons of people that aren't yankees fans that are rooting for the yankees just out of dislike for that awful place, it takes a pretty loathsome team to get people to root for the yankees b)

i turned over late last night and some bloke was on a hat-trick, did he get it ?

i couldn't be arshed watching tbh as cricket is far superior to rounders, and to call the winners 'world champions' is one of the biggest jokes in sport.

Goodison Park has hosted a baseball game, i believe we were the first to do so.
wiki said:
After the First World War the US baseball teams Chicago White Sox and New York Giants played an exhibition match at Goodison Park. One player managed to hit a ball clear over the large Goodison Road Stand. The Liverpool Trojans and Formby Cardinals were the last two teams to play baseball at Goodison Park. This was in the Lancashire Cup Final in 1948.

i imagine the white sox wouldve won that one. a wiki mistake there surely

or maybe not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Giants_(baseball_team)

it just goes to prove that they live in their own world over there

Yup.

Until the rest of the world wants to follow our lead and start playing baseball and American football, we get to be the world champions. Scoreboard.

Do think you'll see basketball be the next sport to come up with some sort of World Cup-type competition. Euroleague is getting better and more European players are making it to the NBA - kind of like Americans showing up in European and English football leagues.

To rock a tangent - baseball and American football will never become worldly popular sports because you need a fair amount of gear to play them - pads, bats, gloves, helmets etc... Soccer needs a ball - you can make a goal out of anything - gap between two trees. Basketball only needs a ball - you can make a hoop out of most things. Both can be played by everybody without financial consideration.

you'd be suprised how many baseball bats get sold in this country, they dont sell many balls or gloves though.
also they aren't cricketing nations in europe, although ac milan have a cricketing link i believe.no other teams are invited to play though, it's huge in other countries, are you scared of losing the cup to a foreign team to never return, like the americas cup ?

and the mls allstar cup:P

There's still along way to go in this series Bill.

The Yankees will come back and win Game 2 tonight.

Burnett has a ton of pressure on his shoulders going into tonight. He's notorious for coming undone when things get tough, and it's not going to be easy going up against the lefties in the Philly line up.

On the other hand, I don't think Pedro can handle the pop in the Yankees line up. Even if can get through 5 or 6, that leaves the terrible Philly pen. But then again, out side of Mo, the Yankees are looking a bit shakey out of the pen as well.

I could see the game tonight being more of a slug fest, with who ever can find the arms out of the pen taking the game. Either way, Philly has stolen homefield advantage, and if they win tonight, I don't the series going back to NY.
