Isn't "World Series" just a name though?

Just like the really European "Champions League".

Probably should be called soemthing else, but isn't.

What the League that is played with European teams?

Yeah that one.

Doesn't feature many "champions" though , thats what i meant as opposed to saying it featured none European teams.

And then pointing out that its in Europe yet people like to have a go at Americans over their stupidly named "world series".

Well were talking about Geography not achievements.

But I agree bring back the European Cup.

you'd be suprised how many baseball bats get sold in this country, they dont sell many balls or gloves though.
also they aren't cricketing nations in europe, although ac milan have a cricketing link i believe.no other teams are invited to play though, it's huge in other countries, are you scared of losing the cup to a foreign team to never return, like the americas cup ?

and the mls allstar cup:P

Nobody else plays football or baseball. We seem to fare poorly in the Wolrd Baseball Classic but who really cares - it's like the President's Cup in golf. Bosh.

MLS All-Star Cup? Delighted to see it held aloft by Pip. If Everton aren't playing for it, I don't care. I'm particular in my loyalties - might watch the MLS but I'm full Everton for footie.

You've got some big boys in Ingerland - see em' on the rugby pitch. Put together an american football team together and come on over. We're trying to come to you (see recent NFL game in London) - only fitting the NFL sent the New England (Boston) Patriots over.

You come over here and leave your michellin man padding and helmets at home. Then we can talk. Wusses!

Rugby here is a non-factor in anything. If it doesn't make SportsCenter ever, it is not on the radar.

No disrespect to our national rugby team but I follow sports pretty closely and I couldn't name you one player on the team, where they usually play or who they play. Would imagine even Canada gets the better of us in this sport.

you stop every 3 seconds, have you ever seen rugby league, it's non-stop

That's it - it flows and creeps along the pitch with some occassional runouts. With the continuous play, I don't think the hitting is as free and impactful.

American football starts new every play - the stop changes allos for different plays and you get more crunching collisions on kick-offs, pass coverage over the middle and bruising blocks from fullbacks opening holes for just as big but faster running backs.

Australian rules football is closer to American football than rugby with its long plays and runs. Not as much scrumming type contact but more open field clotheslines tackles and aerial knocks.
